Since our formation in 1911, we have promoted dialogue and understanding between the British and the German people. Our name commemorates King Edward VII, the cosmopolitan monarch (1901 – 1910) and bon vivant of German and British heritage. Our mission thrives on the kinship and centuries-old friendship as well as on the different and often opposing views of the British and the German people. Our programme, branded as »KE7«, invites journalists, academics, and other professionals in the humanities, to engage in debating an issue, chosen to be inspiring, timely, and relevant to both our nations – and beyond. KE7 Bursaries are awarded to those who contribute outstanding essays, which we later publish in bookform and in digital formats. Following the constitutional debate, Republic vs. Monarchy, during our centenary in 2011/2012, we now focus on Europe: Common Destiny vs. Marriage of Convenience – what do Britons and Germans want from Europe?
